As part of Zurich Art Weekend 2026, the Center for Art Law Switzerland presented the panel discussion Art Markets and the World in Transition: Frameworks Shaping Global Collecting at the Landesmuseum Zurich. The event brought together a full audience for a timely conversation on the forces reshaping today’s international art market and the legal, institutional, and commercial frameworks influencing global collecting.

The panel featured Thomas Stauffer, Partner, Member of the Board, Gerber & Stauffer Fine Arts and President of the Swiss Art Trading Association; Will Korner, Head of Fairs, TEFAF; Alana Kushnir, Founder of Aurelian Lawyers & Advisers, Board Director of JMA and former Board Director of ACCA and the Lyon Foundation; Stefan Puttaert, CEO of the Nicola Erni Collection; Pascal Robert, Founder of Pascal Robert Gallery; and was moderated by Irina Tarsis, Esq., Founder and Managing Director of the Center for Art Law.

Drawing on their extensive international experience, the speakers examined the impact of geopolitical uncertainty, shifting tax and tariff landscapes, and evolving collector interests on the global art market. The discussion explored how these developments are redefining where, how, and why art changes hands, while highlighting the growing importance of legal and advisory frameworks in navigating an increasingly complex market.

The conversation also addressed the future of collecting, considering how the art world can attract new audiences, equip them with trusted tools and knowledge, and encourage participation in a vibrant international art market. Bringing together perspectives from the legal, institutional, commercial, and collecting sectors, the panel offered a practical and engaging examination of the challenges and opportunities facing the art market today.

The event formed part of the official Zurich Art Weekend programme.
